Trench warfare although it had some use in military strategies had no use for the people back home. Although all wars are sad and have impact on the civilians, this war, The Great War, had an extreme and terrible impact. The war literally killed almost an entire generation of all nations (excluding America because they came in late), of boys. And yes I use boys on purpose, the soldiers were so young and had so much more life to live. The war left so many wives without husbands, mothers without sons, sisters without brothers etc. And the soldiers that did return were definatley not the same men that left home. They came back with out personality, but with shell shock and depression and nightmares of watching their entire class die beside them. The people back at home had to suffer from the changes of these people who had been shattered and torn both mentally and physically. Men and boys alike would come back with half a body or holes in their sides or with only one arm or half a leg, maybe no brains left from the horror of the trenches. The government were also affected by the deaths of the war because if most of a generation dies then there is going to be a change in the number of people working, the number of people in need that cannot work, and the number of people without money to buy things to keep the economy going. All of the factories had been busy making bombs and artillery instead of other things like refrigerators or cars. Everyone was influenced by trenchfare and it wasn’t positive.

I hadn't thought about the fact of the loss of people that were able to work and those who were disabled on the economy. Good insight!
