Trench Warfare and Its Impact Empty Trench Warfare and Its Impact

The main reason that WWI evolved into a trench war was the rate of the advancement of technology. Guns and bombs, et cetera, were being developed, but there was a problem with transporting all these weapons. All the machine guns were huge back in the day and, for the most part, had to stay in one place. Obviously, just standing in the middle of the street wasn't very good for a war because it was easy to get shot at, albeit easy to shoot at others. So, to protect soldiers, trenches were dug as a quasi-shield.

The problem with trenches, however, was that once you were in them, you couldn't really get out. If you were seen above the top of the trench, you were probably dead. This was very bad because the trenches were kind of hellish. So, because no one could leave the trenches very easily, both armies would just sit there in their respective trenches attacking their opponent and waiting for their opponent to attack them. This made for a long and grueling war experience.

The impact of trench warfare on soldiers, civilians, and the government was colossal and not very good. Soldiers were probably affected the most, for they had to live in the trenches. These trenches were not very cozy. They were filled with dirt and mud, usually wet, and overall disgusting. Also, like in Forrest Gump, you couldn't have enough socks. Feet have always been a problem in wars, because if they get diseased or something, you can't really walk that well, and you have serious problems doing anything. Unfortunately, many soldiers in the trenches developed severe foot conditions, which was a bad thing.

Civilians were affected mostly because of the usual war things. They had to take on jobs, see all the propaganda, etc. But also, because so many people were dying in trench warfare, they had to deal with all that grief.

Governments were also affected. They had to pay for all that food that the soldiers had to eat and those weapons that the soldiers had to use.

Overall, trench warfare was a really horrible thing, but once it had begun, there was no turning back.

Wow, your answer was pretty interesting. But, there was a little more to trench conditions. Could you explain how their feet got diseased? study
